I just wanted to mention that there is a website that many permaculturists have found invaluable...it is call Plants for a Future.  Here's the URL: http://www.pfaf.org/ .   They have liste over 7,300 edible/medicinal plants with an abundance of information about how to plant, grow and use each one.
